Family’s Kent holiday park crowned regional champion
Broadhembury Holiday Park near Ashford in Kent has been named by the AA as South East England’s top destination for campers, glampers, caravanners and motorhome owners.
The family business beat scores of other eligible parks to take the South East Campsite of the Year title in the AA’s 2019 Caravan and Camping Awards.
Awards given by the AA – based on guest reviews and a “secret shopper” visit by inspectors – are regarded as the Oscars of the holiday parks industry.
Guest facilities, services and levels of hospitality all went under the microscope – and, said the AA’s experts, each met the gold standard on every level.
A top destination for campers, glampers, caravanners and motorhome owners
Sally Stone and her husband Lee are the second generation of Sally’s family to run the park which first started welcoming guests almost 50 years ago.
Today Broadhembury provides not just touring pitches but also stylish and luxurious four-person glamping tents as well as holiday homes for hire.
The citation from the AA’s award judges noted that Broadhembury “continues to impress due to the commitment of its family owners to providing the best experience possible for guests.”
They continued: “The high standards of customer care are complemented by first-class facilities including a top-notch toilet block, a smart reception, and excellent provision for families.”
Inspectors also highlighted the park’s conservation work in its picturesque grounds, and features such as solar heating, an air-recycling system, and the harvesting of rainwater for irrigation.
Quick and accessible getaway
According to Sally, Broadhembury has long been a favourite with local guests wanting a quick and accessible getaway, and those from further afield coming to explore Kent’s surrounding countryside and its many attractions.
“We’ve already received many congratulations on our award from customers, many of whom have been regular visitors to the park for years and even decades,” she said.
“A big emphasis is put by the AA on the standards of hospitality offered by parks, and it has always been our aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere here.
“This has been one of our busiest holiday seasons on record, and it’s great that we can now look forward to celebrating our fiftieth year with this fantastic award!” added Sally.
Broadhembury also holds a maximum five-star grading from VisitEngland, and has won a host of other awards for the quality of its surroundings and customer service.
It is also a member of the prestigious Best of British group of family-owned parks which provide assured high standards for guests seeking first-class holiday environments.
