Devon holiday park’s new bell tents chime with fresh-air glampers
Luxury Glamping has pitched up at East Devon’s Ladram Bay Holiday Park – and is offering families the chance to come closer to the natural world.
The multi-award winning park has introduced four light and airy bell tents which have been sited in an area of the grounds providing glorious coastal views.
Ladram Bay believes they will have a special appeal to people who don’t want the flap of having to put up a tent, or having to turn their backs on creature comforts.
That’s because the spacious and simply furnished bell tents have a fully made-up double bed and two compact fold-out beds, plus electricity and lighting, and even a fridge.
Cosy touches include comfortable rugs underfoot which are handwoven with recycled cotton, and bedside tables which are crafted on the park from reclaimed timber.
Outside is furniture for al-fresco eating or simply relaxing, a private car parking space, and solar-powered lighting to provide soft illumination.
Families can self-cater with their own cooking equipment, or take a short stroll to the park’s well-regarded Pebbles Restaurant or popular take-away facility.
Each guest will also be provided with a pass allowing free entry to Ladram Bay’s swimming pool, outdoor splash zone, and sauna and steam room.
The park already provides holiday caravans and holiday lodges to rent and buy, plus pitches for campers and the owners of touring caravans and motorhomes.
Now, says director Zoe House, the popularity of glamping has persuaded the park’s family owners to invest in a new way to stay for adventure-seeking guests:
“Almost everyone loves the notion of camping, but the realities of erecting a tent and packing it away afterwards can take the edge off the experience for some people,” she said.
“Our bell tents neatly sidestep this problem, but still provide that wonderful sense of being out there in nature and coming closer to the sights and sounds of the countryside.
“The concept is all about laid-back living in a charmingly designed holiday environment which is guaranteed to thrill both grown-ups and youngsters,” added Zoe.
