New Forest holiday park awaits green light to showcase new look

A New Forest holiday park with three lakes at its heart is planning a big splash to mark its re-opening – just as soon as movement restrictions are lifted.

That’s because Green Hill Farm Holiday Park in Landford village near Salisbury will then be able to reveal the results of a recent major investment in new guest facilities.

Earlier in March, the changes were previewed by local MP John Glen who toured the grounds with manager Ross Birkett and his partner Nicola Oyston who also works at the park.

Mr Glen was shown how Green Hill Farm is now putting the emphasis on encouraging guests to enjoy the natural world and enjoy new outdoor challenges.

A new nature trail with viewing stations will enable families to glimpse some of the park’s abundant wildlife including deer, badgers, and a host of different bird species.

There’s also a wildlife centre where guests can learn more about the natural world, plus paths to explore throughout Green Hill Farm’s 50 acres in the New Forest National Park.

According to manager Ross, the park has always attracted campers, caravanners and glampers who want to enjoy a close encounter with the countryside:

“We’ve decided to play to our greatest strengths, and have used this closed period to finish up on a long list of projects in readiness for re-opening when it’s permitted,” he said.

“As well as making the park even more wildlife-friendly, we’ve introduced additional active leisure facilities including a £15,000 playpark for youngsters,

“There’s also an outdoor gymnasium, trampolines, mountain bike hire, fishing in our lakes, and have-a-go challenges such as archery tuition, laser clay shooting, and Segway riding.

“When the current lockdown is over, I’m sure people will be keener than ever to be out and about in the fresh air – and I think Green Hill Farm will fit the bill perfectly!” added Ross.

Other environment-friendly measures newly taken by the park include solar-powered lighting in the grounds, and locally sourced produce for the shop and cafe in order to minimise food miles.

The park was acquired last year by Lovat Parks, a small group of tranquil holiday parks, and is a member of the Best of British and Premier Parks consortia of quality-assured parks.
