Blooming lovely! Tree Tops Caravan Park triumphs in Wales awards

A North Wales caravan park has received a floral fanfare for the 23rd year running in the keenly contested Wales in Bloom awards.

Tree Tops Caravan Park in Gwespyr, near Holywell, was announced this month as the overall winner in the competition’s holiday park category.

The accolade comes towards the end of a busy and successful year for the park which included a £1 million expansion of its business.

Director Andrew Walker, who runs Tree Tops with parents Maureen and Harry, said: “Scooping the gold Wales in Bloom award caps a remarkable year for Tree Tops.

“Our gardens have always been a key part of park life, and we grow many plants in our own greenhouses, tended to by a team of gardeners.

“Some 19,000 plants and shrubs were planted in our new holiday home development – called Parc Ynys Hir – this year alone,” added Andrew.

Tree Tops’ expansion created an extra 52 holiday home plots. and took the environmentally-aware site from 23 to 30 acres.

“We’re very conscious of the environment, and our landscape is important to the people who stay here,” said Andrew.

“We build environmental factors in when it comes to looking after the park using special containers to minimise water use, and even having our own bee hives,” he said.

Tree Tops was presented with its award at a Wales in Bloom ceremony held at Prestatyn’s Nova.
