Best Holiday Park in Scotland 2022 named

Blairgowrie Holiday Park in Perthshire has been crowned as the Best Holiday Park in Scotland 2022 at this year’s Scottish Hospitality Awards. But there were double celebrations by the park’s owners, the Wood family, when judges announced their decision this summer at the glittering Glasgow awards ceremony

That’s because the Woods’ business, Wood Leisure, is also marking its fortieth anniversary this year – and Blairgowrie Holiday Park was the first holiday park the family opened.

Today the group comprises six holiday parks set in picturesque Scottish locations, each boasting a top five-star rating from Visit Scotland, together with other accolades.

Exceptional standards for the Best holiday park in Scotland 2022

The Scottish Hospitality Awards highlight tourism enterprises which offer exceptional standards of facilities and services, and takes into account the feedback given by customers.

Colin Wood, who founded the business four decades ago with his wife Margaret, said he felt “proud and humbled” by that Blairgowrie had taken the overall holiday park prize:

“Right from the outset we have aimed to provide the very best possible experience for our guests, in terms of both the quality of the facilities on offer and the customer care provided.

Family values for holiday parks in Scotland

“The achievements of our family supported by our loyal team have been recognised with top five-star ratings from VisitScotland and many other accolades over the years.

“These have included a Scottish Thistle Award, the Oscar of the tourism industry in Scotland, and now this fantastic honour in the Scottish Hospitality Awards.

“I am delighted that our three daughters, Rachel, Kirsty, and Sarah – who grew up on the parks – have all have returned to take their place within the family business.

“They continue to uphold our family values for the parks, whilst bringing in fresh and innovative ideas to take the company forward,” added Colin.

The past four decades have witnessed steady growth for the company. In 1994 they acquired Lomond Woods Holiday Park near Loch Lomond, and in 2000 they bought Corriefodly Holiday Park in Perthshire.

Deeside Holiday Park in Aberdeenshire followed in 2008, and in 2010 Campsie Glen Holiday Park in Stirlingshire was added to the portfolio of holiday parks.

In 2018, Callander Woods Holiday Park in Stirlingshire was added to the group which today in total comprises almost 500 privately owned holiday homes plus 130 self-catering lodges, holiday caravans and ensuite glamping and camping pods.

Celebrating hard work and determination

A spokesperson for The Scottish Hospitality Awards 2022 said that the event celebrated many incredible individuals whose hard work and determination has made Scotland the incredible place much loved by visitors from across the globe.
