Lake District Estates holiday parks named as blooming champions
All six holiday parks belonging to Lake District Estates in Cumbria are celebrating after having received floral fanfares in the 2022 Cumbria in Bloom awards.
The parks shared a sprinkling of top-level accolades in the annual competition which saw hundreds of businesses and communities take part from across the region.
Award winning Lake District Holiday Parks
Gold awards for their stunning displays went to Hill of Oaks Park and Buck Yeats Lodge Park, both located near the shores of Windermere in south Cumbria.
Newby Bridge Country Caravan Park, also near Windermere, was named by judges as winner of the closely-fought competition’s silver-gilt medal.
And silver awards were presented to Woodclose Park near Kirkby Lonsdale, Waterfoot Park near Pooley Bridge, and Clea Hall Holiday Park near Wigton,
The awards were made after Cumbria in Bloom judges made inspections at each of the parks, assessing the plantings across a range of criteria including their environmental value.
Proud day for Lake District Estates
George Kemp, Head of Parks at Lake District Estates who helps to co-ordinate landscaping and horticultural activity, said it was a very proud day for the group:
“Everyone here is delighted that the hard work of our green-fingered maintenance teams and holiday home owners has been recognised in the awards.
“We have long been keen supporters of Cumbria in Bloom, and the way in which the competition inspires communities to come together.
“The scheme forges new partnerships between businesses, local authorities, and community groups, encouraging all to take pride in their local environment,” said George.
Judges’ comments included their verdict on gold-winning Hill of Oaks Park where, they noted, shrubs and trees provide privacy and interest in the grounds:
“The park has established a young and enthusiastic horticultural team which has worked hard to create colourful planting around the café along the waterside to good effect,” they said.
