Park Foot Caravan and Camping Park near Penrith is flushed with pride after its washrooms were named as top diamond winners in the latest Loo of the Year awards.

The prestigious accolade was made to the family-run business after the shower and toilet facilities provided for guests were “mystery shopped” by inspectors.

But the diamond designation wasn’t the only honour which Park Foot came away with from this year’s Loo of the Year Awards.

The park’s cleaners were also named as winners of the “washroom team of the year” award for ensuring that Park Foot is one of the best holiday parks to “go” in Cumbria.

News of the accolades, said park director Fiona Bell, came as a “fantastic surprise”:

“Touring visitors at Park Foot often make mention of our facilities in the reviews they leave online, praising their spotless condition and well-designed layout,” she said.

Family Holiday Park with high standards

“Many of our guests are family groups, enjoying Park Foot as a base for exploring the Lake District, so high standards are obviously very important to them.

“Maintaining the facilities in tip-top condition is down to our hard working and loyal staff team, so it’s wonderful that they are sharing the limelight!” added Fiona.

Park Foot’s amenity building, which includes showers and bathrooms, was built last year from local stone, and is kept warm with underfloor heating from the park’s biomass boiler.

However, its sparkling loo award is being celebrated alongside another new accolade

BH&HPA Gold Award to celebrate 7oth Anniversary

That’s because Park Foot has also received a prestigious gold award from the British Holiday & Home Parks Association for its enterprise and loyalty.

The association is marking its 70th anniversary this year, and is paying tribute its longest-serving members who have helped popularise outdoor holidays in Britain.

The park-owning Allen family first joined BH&HPA 55 years ago, five years after they had started welcoming guests to their farm on the shores of Ullswater.

BH&HPA said the gold award acknowledged both the park’s longstanding support of industry’s trade body, and its championing of high quality standards.

Today Park Foot has over 500 touring pitches and holiday caravans, and is run by Fiona Bell and Barbara Allen, daughters of founder Jimmy Allen, along with Fiona’s husband Malcolm.
