Holiday close to Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury is a lovely market town, perfect for a day trip or a weekend sightseeing. It is just a few miles from the Welsh border and has lots of places to explore. Shrewsbury Castle sits right by the River Severn and you can climb up Laura’s Tower. from top you can take in sweeping views of the town and surrounding countryside.

Ironbridge Gorge is a wonderful scenic place with the River Severn flowing underneath the iconic Iron Bridge. The bridge was erected in 1779 and was the first bridge in the world to made of cast iron. The landmark structure is free to walk across and there is a local exhibition in the former toll house on the south side of the river. Spend a day and explore the many museums that trace the history of this influential town.

Why not take your bikes and ride from Ironbridge to Bridgnorth. Experience beautiful countryside as you follow the scenic path of a disused railway above the banks of the River Severn (10 miles).

RAF Cosford

RAF Cosford is a great day out for all the family. You can explore the fascinating story of the RAF and learn about the thousands of ordinary servicemen and women who have served in it and the invaluable contribution they made. The RAF Museum Cosford is home to over 75 historic aircraft including the world’s oldest Spitfire, the unique TSR2 and the mighty Vulcan bomber to name but a few.
