Family fun as Devon holiday park unveils luxury lodges
Landscove Holiday Park in Brixham raised both smiles and charity funds in July during a two-day celebration of its latest holiday homes development.
The cliff-top park threw open its gates and leisure facilities to the public, and showcased what the park describes as the ultimate in top-end holiday home lifestyles.
Special guests at the event included senior local officials, and members of the Brixham RNLI Lifeboat Crew which benefited from a range of fundraising activities.
The park has been a long-time supporter of the RNLI team, and last year provided donations to allow a state-of-the-art defibrillator unit to be installed at Brixham Marina.
Adding to the weekend fun was the RNLI’s official mascot Stormy Stan who was joined by the park’s own cheeky costume characters Loopy, Cyril and Penny.
There was a “bubble and berries” reception at 12.30pm on the Saturday, and Landscove’s entertainment team added extra fizz to the occasion throughout.
But one of the biggest stars of the event was the new Whistler luxury lodge from top UK leisure home manufacturer Swift which was unveiled after the reception.
Visitors were able to step inside and inspect the £247,000 lodge with its contemporary furnishings and decor, plus state-of-the-art open plan kitchen with the latest integrated appliances.
The light and airy lodge’s two generously sized bedrooms include a master suite with a luxury bathroom, and generously sized living and dining areas.
The Whistler is among 60 new holiday homes which Landscove has been developing over the past 12 months in response to demand from buyers.
Set in an exclusive landscaped area of the park, each lodge – priced from £120,000 – has spectacular coastal views which can also be enjoyed from the holiday home’s exterior decking.
Owners of the homes will be able to take advantage of an extended 50-week season on the park which is one of the most popular among Park Holidays UK’s five holiday parks in Devon.
According to company director Tony Clish, the new leisure homes will be making one of Devon’s most famous holiday hot-spots even more appealing to holiday home buyers.
“We have been the proud owners of Landscove for almost thirty years, and invested heavily over that time in creating new leisure features and buying opportunities,” he said.
“The park is already responsible for millions of pounds of visitor spending in the Brixham area every year, much of which benefits smaller family-owned businesses such as pubs and shops.
“This latest development will give a further boost to the local economy, and help us respond to rising demand for ownership from families as the staycation trend gathers pace,” added Tony.
Nearby attractions include the fishing village of Brixham itself, cliff-top walks along the adjoining South West Coast Path, and the acclaimed Berry Head Nature Reserve just next door.
During the weekend event, visitors were welcome to make free use of Landscove’s indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools; there is also a bar and restaurant, plus entertainments complex.
