Fundraiser Sarah rides to victory from Somerset Caravan and Camping park
A round-the-world adventurer nearing the end of her gruelling four year expedition was the VIP guest of a Somerset caravan and camping park recently.
Sarah Outen stayed at Waterrow Touring Park in Wiveliscombe on the final leg of her 25,000 mile journey before rowing under Tower Bridge in London to cheers from crowds of fans.
Sarah was accompanied at the Somerset holiday park by breast cancer sufferer Kris Hallenga, aged 29, who with her twin sister Maren established the charity CoppaFeel.
Funds for the CoppaFeel were raised by Sarah on her global odyssey during which she survived a perilous mid-ocean rescue after being hit by a tropical storm in the Pacific.
She also cycled in temperatures ranging from 40 degrees in the Gobi Desert to -40 degrees in the arctic, and had a near death experience when her rowing boat was sucked under a ship.
Multi Award Winning Somerset Caravan and Camping park
Welcoming the party to the Somerset Caravan and Camping park was Lynette and Jamie Cook who, with Jamie’s parents, have owned Waterrow for the past three years.
During that time, they have made a raft of improvements to the multi-award winning park, and introduced popular watercolour painting courses in its picturesque grounds.
But despite their many achievements, Lynette says that she and her husband fee dwarfed by what has been accomplished by their very special guests in November.
“We were approached by Maren on behalf of her sister and Sarah to see if we could provide accommodation which would help with their fundraising efforts,” said Lynette.
“Of course, we were delighted to do so – and were amazed to hear some of the stories she had to tell about her daring expedition,” she added.
Discover Exmoor from this stunning Somerset holiday park
For less intrepid travellers, Waterrow still provides a perfect base for discovering Exmoor, which the park fringes, and the gentle landscapes of Devon and Somerset.
Waterrow remains popular throughout the four seasons, and is currently offering a number of special deals on late autumn and winter breaks, plus stays at Christmas and New Year.
