When Jo and Simon Wilson recently heard that they were the lucky winners of a gorgeous flower-themed Lunar touring caravan, they were over the moon.

But then came the more down-to-earth question posed by the competition organisers: where would they like to receive their prize and enjoy a short break?

With more than 3,000 holiday parks to go at, the couple decided to seek advice – and back came the unequivocal answer from their friends in the know.

A caravan as beautiful as that, they said, would be perfectly pitched at picturesque Skelwith Fold caravan park in the Lake District.

And that is why, this June, Jo and Simon spent their first floral night in their designer caravan under the stars at the multi-award winning Ambleside park.

The Blackburn husband and wife were among thousands who entered for the prize draw, organised by countryside lifestyle clothing and home products retailer Joules.

Joules had taken a Lunar Quasar 554 and created an exterior hand-drawn wrap inspired by Kew Gardens, and featuring birds, butterflies and botanical florals.

The theme continues inside with furnishings, bedding, design flourishes and even crockery taken from the contemporary Joules range.

Customers of both Joules and Preston-based Lunar Caravans were invited to enter the draw for the £20,000-plus prize, and the response was said to be “enormous”.

Henry Wild, owner of 130-acre Skelwith Fold which has received many awards for its quality standards and environmental care, said he was delighted to host the prize handover.

“It was lovely to be able to welcome Jo and Simon to the park, and their fantastic caravan certainly turned a lot of heads among our other guests!” he said.

“Like Joules and Lunar Caravans, our business is also family owned and run – and I think all three of us take pride in providing something special and distinctive for our customers.

“We wish Jo and Simon many years of happy touring, and we’re delighted the first of their holidays was spent among some of Britain’s most magnificent countryside!” added Henry.

Earlier this spring, Skelwith Fold was announced as the overall UK winner in the “ethical business” category of the Federation of Small Businesses annual awards.
