Keswick park named as standard bearer in awards
A family-run caravan and camping park in Keswick will be carrying the flag for Cumbria in this year’s VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, it has just been announced.
Castlerigg Hall Caravan and Camping Park will be the only holiday park in Cumbria competing in the national tourist board’s finals of the competition on 08 March.
The glittering awards ceremony will take place this year at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool, and Castlerigg Hall will be one of just five UK parks competing in the holiday park category.
It will come away with either a gold, bronze, silver or “highly commended” award from the judges.
Based on a former farm where the Jackson family has lived since 1938, Castlerigg Hall attracts visitors from across the UK and overseas.
The park last year won the overall “Best Holiday Park in Cumbria” title in the annual Cumbria Tourism awards, and holds other regional and national honours for its quality standards.
This year it was also praised by world-famous botanist David Bellamy when he announced that Castlerigg Hall had once again gained his prestigious conservation award at its top gold level.
Professor Bellamy highlighted the many initiatives taken by the family to safeguard its flora and fauna, and the part it plays in supporting Nurture Lakeland through visitor donations.
Castlerigg Hall provides luxury caravan holiday homes for rent, plus eco-friendly camping pods and touring pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents.
David Jackson said he was extremely proud to be the standard bearer for Cumbria’s 100-plus holiday parks in the England for Excellence Awards:
“It’s especially pleasing for us because these awards place a great deal of emphasis not only on the high standards of competing parks, but on their commitment to customer service,” he said.
“For that reason, a great deal of credit must go to our staff team who always go the extra mile to providing guests with a friendly welcome and genuine hospitality.
“Thanks in a large part to them, the majority of our thousands of customers each year are either repeat visitors or coming as a result of a personal recommendation,” said David.
