National tourism body salutes West Dorset Holiday Park
The husband-and-wife team behind the multi-award winning West Dorset Holiday Park – Monkton Wyld have earned praise and a special award from the park industry’s official body.
Joanna and Simon Kewley were thanked for their loyalty and services to regional tourism this month by the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BH&HPA).
The organisation presented them with a commemorative certificate marking Monkton Wyld’s 25 years of active membership, and its helping to pioneer fresh air holidays in Dorset.

The award comes just weeks after Joanna and Simon’s park was crowned the overall gold winner in the camping and caravanning park category of the Dorset Tourism Awards.
BH&HPA as part of its 70th anniversary events is celebrating the longest-serving of its 2,400 members who are achieving the highest quality standards.
It said that Monkton Wyld, near the coastal village of Charmouth in West Dorset, should be rightly proud of its quarter-century of providing families with first-class holiday experiences.
Joanna and Simon first started welcoming guests to their family farm in the early nineties, and its idyllic location and friendly atmosphere quickly won them a large following.
Making holiday memories
Over the years, the couple have invested much time and energy into ensuring that the park offers families the perfect surroundings for a memorable stay on a Dorset holiday park.
They have always been keen to run their West Dorset holiday park along sustainable lines, and have been presented with the David Bellamy Conservation Award at its top gold level for many years.
Joanna and Simon have created many wildlife habitats in their 26-acre grounds where wild flowers flourish and provide foraging for honey bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
The tranquil atmosphere is maintained by the park’s division into small paddocks for camping, caravan and motorhome guests who come from across Britain and mainland Europe.
Holidays on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast
“Monkton Wyld has always been especially attractive to lovers of natural beauty, not least because of the stunning countryside and nearby Jurassic Coast,” said Joanna.
“It’s wonderful being able to live and work in this unspoiled part of Dorset, and to be able to help other local small businesses by bringing visitors to the region.
“We have always supported our trade association and all the help it gives to other parks like ours, so it’s great to have them saying thanks to us in this way,” she added.
As well as pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents, Monkton Wyld provides luxury rented accommodation, including a 17C farmhouse, and holiday homes to own.
